2 April 1860 – The first Italian parliament met at Turin Italy was unified. The Rothschild’s banking empire bankrolled Italy’s independence. (Internet).

1976 – Soviet defector Golitsyn’s daughter died of a drug overdose in Italy.

6 May 1976 – There was an earthquake in northern Italy near the Austrian Yugoslav borders. It killed more than 1,000 people and left 80,000 homeless. (Timelines internet).

20 March 1979 – In Rome the mafia killed Mino Pocorelli, a journalist and magazine editor. (Timelines internet).

23 September 1985 – Italian journalist Giancarlo Siani was killed after he wrote investigative reports about the mafia in Naples daily LL Mattino. (timelines internet).

1990 – In Naples $60 million disappeared, in incomplete construction sites for the soccer world cup. (Timeline internet).

19 July 1992 – Paolo Dorsellino, an anti-mafia judge was murdered by the mafia. (mc 7/19/02 internet).

8 January 1993 – In Sicily a journalist named Beppe Alfano was killed by the mafia. He was born in 1945. (Timeline internet).

27 May 1993 – Italian police arrested mafia boss Benedetto “Nitto” Santapaola. (timeline internet).

1994 – Roberto Pannunzi Italian mafia was arrested in Colombia. He had links to Colombian cartels for trade in cocaine. He was extradited to Italy and released. He had a heart attack and disappeared in 2009. (Timeline internet).

2000 – British MP Gerard Batten, from the UK Independence party, also became an acquaintance of Latvinenko’s, who was in his constituent. Before fleeing Russia in 2000 Litvinenko spoke to Colonel General Anatolly Trofimov, who was a former deputy chief of the FSB. Trofimov told Litvinenko, don’t go to Italy, there are many KGB agents where among the politicians. Romano Prodi, then PM of Italy, former head of the EC, is our man there, he said. 16 April 2002 – Afghanistan’s former King, Mohammad Zaher Shah, returns to Kabul after 29 years of exile in Italy.
